Dinner

Since it's probably been a month since the last time I cooked something besides take-out or grilled cheese, I felt tonight's dinner was worth a blog post..... We had my mom's famous Sweet and Sour Meatballs.... except, she makes her meatloaf without a recipe (which KILLS me.... the accountant/cook can't stand to not have exact measurements). So, I improvised and got a meatloaf recipe from online.... Ummmm.... definitely not as good as mom's. But the sweet and sour sauce was from her recipe, and it tasted yummy. We also had Party Potatoes, green beans, and these cute little Lemon Meringue thingys.

Ben and I purchased a bedroom set and TV this weekend. We've been saving for a while and finally had enough money:). Plus, by buying them together at the same place, we got a better deal! We're so excited to be able to see next year's Purdue scores on our TV (instead of the blurry white blob - just ask our families:) ). And it will be so nice to lean against a headboard instead of the wall when we're reading in bed!

For Nancy:)

Sorry I haven't blogged in awhile. I have no good excuses!

Ben and I have been up to lots of things since April 14th!

We went on a "2nd Honeymoon" to Gatlinburg.... ate lots of food, slept in a hotel room with hair (not our own - ewww), and had a great time.

National Park - it was so pretty. We sat in our vehicle and read for awhile with the windows down - so relaxing!

Inside the Christmas Place - The Naughty and Nice List:)

Outside the Christmas place - the flowers were absolutely beautiful!
This past weekend, Ben and I got to go home and visit family and friends - but I forgot my camera. Boo!
Holly (our future sister-and-law) had a bridal shower. I won one of the games with all the little older ladies at my table (they let me keep the prize:) ).
Daniel (Ben's little brother) had a baseball game. He was the starting pitcher and did a great job. They won:)!
Then, Ben and I visited my Grandpa and Grandma Molter. Please pray for them. Grandpa's been really sick and in the hospital. He's doing much better and may go home tomorrow, but my mom and the family will also need wisdom for future housing decisions, etc. I know both Grandpa and Grandma are weary of "growing old". God's grace is sufficient for all of us, and it is wonderful to trust in Him with all the "unknowns" and fears which can sneak up (on me).
Also, we got to visit our college friends Mitch and Nicole. They are expecting a little boy in May! It was so fun to see their house and eat ice cream!

1st Anniversary!

Ben celebrated our 1st Anniversary today! God has been so good to us, and we praise Him for His grace that has sustained and nourished our relationship this year!

Cake..... One Year Ago:)

Cake today - still yummy!!!!

Landscaping, Part 2

Mom and Dad visited Ben and I for the weekend. We worked on landscaping and actually finished everything (except for planting the flowers - and we're supposed to wait for frost season to be over, anyway)! Here are a few pictures:

Landscaping!!!!

Ben and I are working on landscaping around our deck this summer. We bought some bulbs from Costco and ordered some items on the internet. The first of the "online" plants arrived today! I was so excited.... what would be in the box?! It was our lilac bush that we ordered. It looks a little different than the picture on the website:).

Herbie thought he'd take advantage of the shade.

Bonus - free bottle of hand lotion!!

Ben thinks the 4-5 foot space we were allowing for the bush may be a little large at first:).

Oprah's Got It Wrong!!!

"For the word of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. For it is written, "I WILL DESTROY THE WISDOM OF THE WISE, AND THE CLEVERNESS OF THE CLEVER I WILL SET ASIDE." Where is the wise man? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world? For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not come to know God, God was well-pleased through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe. For indeed Jews ask for signs and Greeks search for wisdom; but we preach Christ crucified, to jews a stumbling block and to Gentiles foolishness, but to those who are the called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. (1 Corinthians 1:18-25)

I love how God's Word, even though it was written so long ago, applies to current situations! Truth is always true!

Oprah believes that what the Bible says about God and Jesus and the cross is foolishness. However, to me, it is the POWER OF GOD and holds the ONLY answers to sin, suffering, salvation, and true joy (not the superficial kind that you can "pretend" your way through in front of people).
