Jeremy and Holly's Wedding!!!

Sorry this post is so long, but it's been a very busy weekend! Ben's brother, Jeremy, got married to his beautiful bride Holly!

On Friday, the reception hall was decorated.

Charlie risked his life hanging the tulle-and-light rope.

The boys had a little trouble making the arch.

But eventually, it came together.

Daniel and Terry tried it out to make sure it would be perfect for the REAL bride and groom.

It looks like it's ready for a party!!

The girls went to a nail salon and got our nails done! It was so much fun to relax and be pampered.

Watch it, Holly! Those look dangerous.

Much better!

Jeremy explained his groom's cake at the rehearsal dinner.

Holly was pampered as she did some pampering:).

The beautiful bride!!

The new Mr. and Mrs. Huckstep!

The family!

The bridal party!

The chicken dance! The DJ made EVERYONE get on the dance floor. It was so much fun!

Holly's grandpa let them drive his car to the reception.

The getaway car!

Fish Funeral

I remember when my dad used to flush my fish, I wouldn't use that toliet for weeks afterward!! It looks like this little girl is able to cope with her loss a little better than me:).

Which Tie?????

I got a new top to wear to Jeremy and Holly's rehearsal dinner on Friday. And of course I wanted my hubby to match! So, I went to Kohl's after work today (where something is ALWAYS on sale!) and scoured for shirts and ties in the aqua/teal/blue-ish category.

This is what I ended up with:

I'm leaning toward one of the ties on the right. I'll have to see what Ben thinks.

Prayer Request: Baby Cade

David and Bree Williams (from our young marrieds class) had a little boy on May 8th. He is precious! It looks like Big Bro Caleb and Big Sis Kylie are taking good care of him:).
Cade was born with 2 holes in his heart. It is possible that they could close on their own, but the doctors don't believe this will be likely. Therefore, he will need to undergo surgery to close the holes. Also, his heart is pumping so fast, he is losing weight (despite feeding him enriched formula). This may mean a feeding tube.
So, David, Bree, Caleb, Kylie, and Cade are in the midst of a lot of doctors' appointments and unknowns! And they covet everyone's prayers!
Their trust in the Lord during this time is so encouraging. Bree wrote in a recent email update, "Of course we know that God is the one in control and could close [the holes in Cade's heart] despite what the Dr's think. We also know that God sometimes takes us down the harder path, but yet gives us strength to make it through. So as parents we pray He will touch Cades heart and close the holes, but we trust His will even if it is not what we would choose. God gives us grace in the moment we need it and that is where we are resting....in His grace. Thanks for all the prayers."
So, please pray for this family. Pray for God to be glorified and His will to be accomplished. Pray for His grace to sustain and comfort them. Pray for our church family that we would serve, support, and encourage the Williams'. Pray for wisdom for the doctors and medical staff. Pray for baby Cade's little body and heart.

A Whole New Meaning to Wii Fit....

Plant Update

Our plants continue to amaze us:).

Our pole beans.... we only planted them this past Saturday!

Before I saw this tiny marigold, I was convinced I would never start flowers from seeds again!!! Now, it (almost) all seems worth it:).

Beautiful yellow lillies!!!

Painting!

This is a piece of pottery I had painted earlier on a girls' night.... sort of on the theme of painting. One of the girls I lived with in college had a tradition in her home of an "I'm Special Today" plate. Her mom would let the child eat on it when something special happened - report card, birthday, etc. I thought it was a great idea, so here is the Hucksteps' "Special" plate:

Ben and I were "on vacation" last week, so.... we painted! (And my mom and dad helped over the weekend as well:) ). Only the stairwell and our bathroom to go:) !

Here is a "before" picture of our bedroom. Let's be honest. It doesn't exactly scream "romance".

And the "after":

The trickiest part of re-doing the bedroom was the removal of the dust-collecting elliptical trainer. We actually got it stuck in the stairwell!
My dad and Ben added another coat of red to the kitchen, and our entry, hallway, and living area are all taupe now. You can see the "Soft Tan" in the stairwell (left side of the below photo) that our whole house used to be:).
